(Central News Agency reporter Chen Chih-chung, Taipei, 30th) The Ministry of Education today announced the results of its overseas study and travel contract audit. This year, a total of 193 operators were audited, of which 7 failed to upload documents as required. The information has been published on the "Overseas Study and Travel Information Kaleidoscope" website, reminding students to choose compliant operators.
The Ministry of Education stated in a press release today that, in accordance with the "Key Points for the Implementation of Matters to be Recorded and Not to be Recorded in Overseas Study and Travel Contracts of the Ministry of Education," operators are required to submit written materials annually, which are then audited by a law firm commissioned by the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education pointed out that this year, a total of 193 operators were actually audited, including 162 for study abroad, 19 for short-term study tours, and 12 for both, totaling 205 cases, including 174 for study abroad and 31 for short-term study tours.
Among them, 7 operators were listed on the "List of Operators Who Failed to Upload Application Audit Contracts and Other Documents as Required." The Ministry of Education stated that in recent years, consumer disputes related to overseas study and travel have increased, all due to non-compliance with regulations and non-participation in audit operations. It is recommended that if students wish to entrust an operator to handle overseas study and travel matters, they must first check online to ensure they choose a qualified operator.
In addition, past audits have found non-compliant patterns, including failure to comply with the 5-day review period, failure to specify accommodation conditions, failure to clearly state remuneration amounts, and non-compliant calculation methods for refunds.
Special attention should also be paid to overseas travel and learning contracts, such as whether the operator provides a tour leader's professional license or relevant documents for group notification, liability insurance and performance guarantee insurance documents, and the content of overseas travel and learning activities.
The Ministry of Education stated that if an operator's overseas study and travel contract violates regulations, local governments can order the operator to make corrections within a time limit in accordance with Article 56-1 of the "Consumer Protection Act." If the operator fails to make corrections by the deadline, penalties will be imposed according to regulations. (Editor: Li Heng-shan) 1150430
