(Central News Agency reporter Pan Chih-ting, Taipei 30th) Following the retirement of Obi Pharma CEO (General Manager) Wang Hui-chun today, Taiwan Bio-development announced that its board of directors has resolved to appoint its current Head of R&D, Dr. Chen Ya-chi, as acting CEO. Dr. Chen will leverage her 20 years of international pharmaceutical company experience to accelerate Obi Pharma's new drug development and international market launch schedule.

Taiwan Bio-development explained that Dr. Chen Ya-chi holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) and a Master of Clinical Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in the United States. She graduated from the Department of Pharmacy at Taipei Medical University in her early years and holds pharmacist licenses in both Taiwan and the United States, accumulating considerable depth in academia. In addition to publishing research in professional journals such as Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, she also holds multiple U.S. patents related to predicting immunotherapy responses and GPC3-targeted therapies.

Taiwan Bio-development pointed out that Dr. Chen Ya-chi possesses international pharmaceutical company experience, with expertise in clinical pharmacology and regulatory affairs. Before joining Obi Pharma as Head of R&D, her career was primarily in large international pharmaceutical organizations, where she served as Senior Director of Clinical Pharmacology at Gilead Sciences and Executive Director and Head of Clinical Pharmacology at Revolution Medicines.

Taiwan Bio-development stated that in her past practical experience, Dr. Chen Ya-chi participated in critical aspects of multiple drug development processes. Her experience covers leading clinical pharmacology programs, optimizing drug dosages, and communicating with regulatory reviews.

During her tenure at Genentech, she assisted in the review process of the PD-L1 inhibitor (Atezolizumab) using Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) technology. At Hoffmann-La Roche, she handled the bridging strategy for the formulation transformation of the arthritis drug Actemra and actively promoted the drug development process for the next-generation oral estrogen degrader (Giredestrant, oral SERD), which is expected to rewrite adjuvant treatment methods for breast cancer. These experiences have equipped her with a comprehensive industry perspective when facing complex new drug development procedures and regulatory requirements.

Obi Pharma's board of directors pointed out that since serving as Head of R&D, Dr. Chen Ya-chi has led the development of Obi Pharma's antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) anticancer drug platform. The board believes that her appointment as acting CEO will implement a "science-based" management philosophy, accelerate drug development, and enable the company to maintain a steady operational pace during the transition period.

The board also elected Chiang Yung-fang as Vice Chairman of Taiwan Bio-development. Chiang Yung-fang holds a Ph.D. in Management from Ohio State University in the United States and has long-term corporate management and cross-regional operational management experience. He previously served as Vice President of Ruentex Industries (Ruentex Global) and CEO of RT-Mart, responsible for large organizational operational management. (Editor: Yang Lan-hsuan) 1150430
