(Central News Agency reporter Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, 30th) On the eve of May 1st Labor Day, New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih today presented awards to 170 model workers, 60 excellent drivers, and 13 outstanding industrial unions, affirming the long-term dedication of grassroots laborers and highlighting their crucial role in the city's development.

The New Taipei City Government's Labor Affairs Department and Transportation Department held the commendation event today in the city hall's auditorium, with a total of 243 representatives receiving awards. Hou Yu-ih stated that laborers and drivers are important cornerstones of urban operations, thanking them for their efforts in their respective positions, which contribute to New Taipei's continuous progress.

Several awardees shared their work experiences. Febri Aknis Alfian, a migrant worker from Indonesia, has served at Taiwan Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. for six and a half years since coming to Taiwan, working diligently and helping to lead new recruits. Another awardee had served a company for over 40 years, starting from entry-level positions and witnessing the company's development.

Hou Hsin-hui, a person with disabilities, has worked at a biotechnology company for over 10 years, overcoming hearing impairment and communication challenges to skillfully operate equipment, demonstrating a resilient workplace spirit. She expressed gratitude for the support of her colleagues, which has enabled her continuous growth, and hopes to work until retirement.

Furthermore, Tsai Li-ling, Lin Yu-huan, and Wu Pei-chin also represented New Taipei in receiving the national model worker honor from the Ministry of Labor, excelling in their respective fields.

Labor Affairs Director Chen Jui-chia pointed out that the May 1st series of activities includes labor issue seminars and friendly workplace certifications, and also launched visually impaired massage discounts, encouraging workers to relax both physically and mentally.
