(Central News Agency reporter Tsao Ya-yen, New Taipei, 30th) The New Taipei City Youth Department this year for the first time partnered with 8 bureaus, including the Tourism and Travel Department and Social Welfare Department, to promote public sector internships, recruiting for 24 positions covering social media planning, social services, and more. It invites youth aged 18 to 35 to utilize their interests and expertise, step into the front lines to understand the operations of government agencies, with online applications open immediately.

The New Taipei City Youth Department today issued a press release stating that the 115th year (2026) Youth Public Sector Internship Program is a collaboration between the Youth Department and 8 bureaus: Tourism and Travel Department, Secretariat, Land Administration Department, Social Welfare Department, Juvenile Guidance Committee, Agriculture Department, and Water Resources Department. It offers 24 internship positions, covering social media planning, innovative policy planning, event execution, and social services, and provides internship stipends.

Youth Department Director Chiu Chao-mei stated that participating in the public sector internship program is an important opportunity for youth to engage in public affairs. This year, the collaboration has expanded to 8 city government bureaus, offering more diverse internship positions, allowing youth to enter different government agencies and actively participate in cross-departmental collaboration and policy implementation.

A Youth Department staff member explained in a phone interview with the Central News Agency that the biggest difference between an intern and a part-time worker is that part-time workers complete assigned tasks based on their placement, while interns can apply based on their studies or expertise for the work content offered by each unit, allowing them to do things they are truly interested in within the public sector and have greater room for development.

The Youth Department also added that this program also includes a mentor system for interns, accompanying them to adapt to the workplace, assisting with task execution, and alleviating the anxiety of entering the workplace for the first time. During the internship, three empowerment courses will be arranged, providing one-on-one career counseling, resume health checks, and other services.

The Youth Department pointed out that online applications for the Youth Public Sector Internship Program are open from now until May 20. Subsequently, each agency will conduct selections and notify applicants of the results. The target audience is youth aged 18 to 35 (currently enrolled in a college/university or graduated within 2 years). The internship period is from June 29 to September 30, with 96 hours of internship per month, totaling 288 hours over three months, and a stipend of NT$196 per hour. (Editor: Lee Shu-hua) 1150430
