(Central News Agency reporter Zheng Weizhen, Nantou, 30th) Starting tomorrow, the three-day Labor Day holiday will see Nantou County initiate traffic diversion and control in response to the influx of vehicles at popular tourist attractions such as Sun Moon Lake. Additionally, the "2026 Nantou Youth Explorer! Emerging Horn Music Festival" will kick off tomorrow, with some surrounding roads also implementing control measures.
The Jiji Precinct of the Nantou County Police Bureau stated today that during the continuous holiday from May 1st to 3rd, a surge in returning home and tourist traffic is expected. For well-known attractions such as the Jiji Green Tunnel, Shuili Snake Kiln, and Sun Moon Lake, which are prone to congestion on major arteries like Provincial Highway 16, Provincial Highway 21, and County Road 131, the precinct has launched traffic diversion duties for easily congested sections and important intersections to ensure smooth passage and reduce the risk of accidents.
The Jiji Precinct also stated that to prevent illegal parking from affecting traffic flow, parking will be prohibited on certain road sections during specific periods. At the same time, some areas will be designated for roadside parking. The public is requested to follow police instructions. Furthermore, mountain roads are often winding and narrow, so drivers are reminded to slow down, maintain a safe distance, and avoid fatigued driving to prevent danger.
The Zhongxing Precinct pointed out that the "2026 Nantou Youth Explorer! Emerging Horn Music Festival" will debut tomorrow at the Nantou County Agricultural, Industrial and Commercial Exhibition Center. On Shunxi North Road outside the exhibition center (from Lover's Bridge to Nameless Bridge section), roadside parking will be prohibited from 1 PM to 10 PM. Parking will also be prohibited on both sides of Zusi Bridge to Zhongxing Road.
Those driving to the venue can park in the venue's parking spaces or at the Nantou County Baseball Stadium. A motorcycle parking area has been added above the large drainage ditch next to the venue's service counter.
The police suggest that the public can make good use of the two free shuttle bus routes to the venue: the Nantou Line (Nantou Senior High School - Carrefour - Exhibition Center) and the Caotun Line (Nan Kai University of Technology - Huide Temple - Zhongxing Senior High School - Exhibition Center).
