(New Taipei City, April 30, Central News Agency reporter Cao Ya-yan) A closed hotel in Xindian District, New Taipei City, was found to be operating as a sex trade location and recruiting customers through online platforms. Police recently raided the premises, arresting 16 people including the primary suspects, foreign women, and male clients, seizing over NT$4.78 million in illegal proceeds.

The Xindian Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department recently uncovered that a 55-year-old man surnamed Chen and a 41-year-old Vietnamese woman surnamed Nguyen had been renting a suite in a closed hotel on Beixin Road since March this year, mediating sex trade services provided by multiple foreign women and advertising through online forums.

After receiving reports, the police requested the Taipei District Prosecutors Office to command the investigation, forming a special task force with the National Immigration Agency's specialized team to execute a search warrant. On the 28th, they raided the scene, arresting suspects Chen and Nguyen, along with 8 female workers and 6 male clients, and seizing over NT$4.78 million in illegal proceeds and other evidence.

It is understood that the 8 female workers were from Thailand and Vietnam, with 6 of them being undocumented migrant workers. Each sex trade service cost NT$2,000, of which the primary suspects took NT$900.

Police stated that suspects Chen and Nguyen were transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation on charges of offenses against public morals. The 14 female workers and male clients were penalized according to the Social Order Maintenance Act, then transferred to the Taipei specialized team for custody or released.
