(Taipei, April 30, Central News Agency) Official Chinese data shows that China's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for April was 50.3, a slight decrease of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, but better than the market expectation of 50.1.

According to news from the official website of China's National Bureau of Statistics today and reports from the Hong Kong Economic Times, China's Manufacturing PMI for April decreased from 50.4 in March to 50.3, but it was higher than the market expectation of 50.1, maintaining an expansion level above 50 for two consecutive months. Among them, the PMI for large enterprises expanded for 5 consecutive months, while the PMI for medium and small enterprises returned to expansion levels.

From the perspective of sub-indices, the new orders index was 50.6, a decrease of 1 percentage point from the previous month.

The non-manufacturing business activity index for April decreased by 0.7 percentage points from the previous month, reporting 49.4, indicating a decline in non-manufacturing prosperity.

Huo Lihui, Chief Statistician of the Service Industry Survey Center of China's National Bureau of Statistics, explained that regarding the non-manufacturing business activity index, the prosperity of the service industry declined. The service industry business activity index was 49.6, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points from the previous month. From an industry perspective, the business activity indices for wholesale, retail, and residential services were all below the critical point, indicating weak market activity.

Huo Lihui also pointed out that the construction industry's prosperity was weak. The construction industry business activity index was 48.0, a decrease of 1.3 percentage points from the previous month.
