(CNA reporter Hsu Chih-wei, Taipei, 29th) To assist university students in career planning, the Youth Development Administration is promoting the Youth Summer Community Workplace Experience Program. Applications are now open, offering 700 positions this summer with a salary of NT$44,250 provided by the Youth Development Administration. More than 300 non-profit organizations are invited to provide job vacancies.
The Ministry of Education's Youth Development Administration announced today in a press release that the 2026 Youth Summer Community Workplace Experience Program is now open for student applications. It encourages university students to apply their expertise in design, marketing, event planning, and camp leadership to local organizations, injecting new-generation creativity and vitality, and broadening their diverse career horizons.
Hsu Hui-ching, a student from National Pingtung University's Department of Social Development, and Huang Jing-jia, a student from National Dong Hwa University's Department of Chinese Literature, participated in the program last year at the Kaohsiung Xiaoxiang Community Development Alliance as event planners and executors. They delved into the Qimei community, participating comprehensively in local affairs from field surveys and image recording to event design, accumulating rich experience in the practical process.
Hsu Hui-ching shared that during the process of planning the Xiaoxiang Community Action Station and old street orienteering activities, she often pondered how to maximize the involvement and impact of each participant under limited venue and resources. Community work does not have an immediate, visible standard answer; it requires time to ferment and settle. She hopes to accompany herself and the community in carving out a gradually clearer path with a more patient attitude.
Huang Jing-jia stated that she used to feel nervous about interpersonal interactions, but through repeated casual chats with elders and daily site visits, she gradually found the purity and ease of communication, which became a crucial force in promoting local revitalization. Both believe that community work is not just about task execution but also about managing relationships and emotions. Through this workplace experience, besides accumulating practical experience, they also rediscovered the appearance of their hometown and the power of the community.
The Youth Development Administration stated that the Youth Summer Workplace Experience Program will run from July 1st to August 14th, with job vacancies across Taiwan. Non-profit organizations will arrange dedicated mentors, and the Youth Development Administration will provide timely care and assistance. Applications are open from now until June 18th (applications will close earlier if positions are filled). University students aged 35 and under are encouraged to apply.
