(CNA Reporter Wu Wen-hsuan, Kinmen, 29th) The first dual-way charter flight between Kinmen County and Nha Trang, Vietnam, launched today. The Kinmen County Government stated that it would continue to work with airlines and travel operators to strengthen international marketing and promotion, drive stable route development, and move toward the goal of regular operations.

The Kinmen–Nha Trang charter flight made its maiden voyage today, with the first flight carrying 62 international passengers to Kinmen and 227 Kinmen passengers departing for Nha Trang. Kinmen's Shangyi Airport arranged a 'water salute' ceremony to welcome the arrival.

Hsu Chi-hsin, Director of the Kinmen County Tourism Department, welcomed guests and stated in a media interview that the charter flight model provides more convenience for international tourists. To encourage operators, current regulations allow for a subsidy of NT$1 million per round trip for non-Hong Kong, Macau, or Mainland China charter flights, provided the average load factor reaches 60% or higher.

Hsu also noted that despite variables like rising international oil prices, discussions for a Malaysia charter flight are currently underway, and they look forward to its success.

According to a press release from the Tourism Department, routes to Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, and Brunei have been opened over the past two years. The expansion into the Nha Trang market will further enhance regional connectivity and promote international tourism exchange.

The Tourism Department pointed out that Nha Trang is a well-known coastal resort city in Vietnam famous for its sunny bays and rich tourism resources. Kinmen possesses deep historical and cultural heritage and diverse tourism features, making the two locations highly complementary. The charter flights not only shorten travel time and improve convenience but also help open new passenger source markets.

The department stated that in the future, the county government will continue to strengthen international marketing efforts and actively promote the stable development of these routes toward regular operations. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150429
