Miaoli County Toufen City - A man surnamed Kim, driving a tow truck, hit three vehicles in different locations within just one hour on the 27th. His bizarre behavior after the accidents, including smoking an e-cigarette and appearing physically rigid, led citizens to suspect drug driving. The Toufen Police Department stated that the criminal investigation team is currently handling the case.
Wu Guo-wei, deputy chief of the Toufen Police Station, stated today that a report was received on the 27th regarding a traffic accident on Zhonghua Road. A tow truck had collided with a small truck that was unloading goods by the roadside. Surveillance footage showed the driver, Kim (28), was driving north when he struck the parked vehicle.
Local residents noted that after the crash, the driver sat blankly by the road smoking an e-cigarette. When he tried to stand, he exhibited full-body stiffness, twitching, and shaking. 'It looked like a zombie movement, very eerie,' one witness said. He also reportedly lost emotional control, screaming and punching parked cars, causing passersby to avoid him.
Dr. Feng Qi-yan from Da Chien General Hospital commented that while hyperthyroidism can cause tremors and anxiety, full-body shaking is less common and usually associated with long-term untreated symptoms like goiter.
Police initially arrived and completed scene mapping. No contraband or alcohol was found, and as both parties agreed to a private settlement, Kim was allowed to leave. However, Kim subsequently hit another car on Jianguo Road and later a Porsche at a used car dealership on Bade 1st Road while reversing. Following further investigation and review of footage, police suspect drug driving and the criminal investigation team has taken over the case.
