Central News
(Taipei, April 29, Central News Agency reporter Tseng Jen-kai) As US stocks took a breather and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closed lower for two consecutive trading days this week, the Taiwan stock market opened lower today, falling over 500 points from its historical high, testing the 5-day moving average of approximately 38985 points. As of 9:05, the TAIEX weighted index was down 364.46 points to 39157.27 points; the OTC index, representing small and medium-sized stocks, also opened lower.
All four major constituent stocks opened lower in early trading: TSMC fell NT$45 to NT$2170, Delta Electronics fell NT$90 to NT$2035, MediaTek fell NT$115 to NT$2500, and Foxconn fell NT$3 to NT$222.5.
Legal analysts indicate that the Taiwan stock market surged in April, leading to excessive deviation and high trading volume, and is facing short-term correction pressure, expected to remain in high-level consolidation, awaiting convergence of technical deviations. However, as AI infrastructure is still in its early stages and the expansion of AI capital expenditures and related supply chains continues, the long-term bullish trend of the Taiwan stock market is expected to remain unchanged.
