(Central News Agency reporter Wu Che-hao, Changhua, 29th) The second phase expansion project of the Show Chwan Asia Remote Minimally Invasive Surgery Training Center in Changhua commenced today. The Show Chwan Medical System stated that it will introduce an international convention center, medical device research and development, and industry incubation zones, and integrate hybrid operating rooms to strengthen Taiwan's competitiveness in smart healthcare. The Show Chwan Medical System established the Show Chwan Asia Remote Minimally Invasive Surgery Training Center in 2008 within the Changbin Show Chwan Health Park in Changhua County. The center is a four-story green building spanning 1500 pings (approx. 4,958 square meters). The Minimally Invasive Surgery Training Center collaborates with the European Institute of Telesurgery (EITS) in Strasbourg, France, and features a circular design with 20 five-star animal experimental operating tables. Through precise endoscopic surgical training, it aims to advance the minimally invasive surgical skills of medical professionals in Asia. Eighteen years later, the Show Chwan Asia Remote Minimally Invasive Training Center held its groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase expansion project. Director Huang Shih-wei of the Training Center, Superintendent Huang Hsin-chang of Changbin Show Chwan Hospital, and others attended the ceremony. Huang Shih-wei stated that with the rapid development of robotic surgery and artificial intelligence in healthcare, the second phase expansion plan has officially been launched to comprehensively upgrade training and research and development capabilities. Huang Shih-wei pointed out that the expansion project includes an international convention center, medical device research and development, and industry incubation zones. It also plans to integrate hybrid operating rooms, advanced operating rooms, and a robotic surgery demonstration area to create an international platform combining clinical practice, teaching, and innovation, thereby strengthening Taiwan's competitiveness in the field of smart healthcare. Huang Shih-wei added that the center will also leverage the advantages of precision machinery and artificial intelligence technology from the Central Taiwan Science Park, connecting medical, R&D, and manufacturing capabilities to build a complete minimally invasive medical device industry chain and promote the upgrading of the medical technology industry. Biomedical companies that have long collaborated with the Show Chwan Medical System will also establish smart medical robot demonstration bases in the second phase expansion project.
