(CNA Reporter Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, 29th) Deficiencies found during the preliminary inspection of the New Taipei Metro Sanying Line have been resolved. The New Taipei City Government stated that it conducted multi-hazard simulation drills in coordination with police, fire services, and the metro company. These drills covered scenarios such as train arson and random attacks to strengthen safety readiness before operation. The final inspection is expected to be requested in early May.

Li Cheng-an, Director of the New Taipei City Metro Bureau, stated during a municipal meeting today that the preliminary inspection was completed on the 26th. The five major deficiencies requiring improvement before the final inspection have all been addressed. Additionally, 30 general suggestions for improvement will continue to be optimized. The bureau expects to apply for the final inspection in early May, followed by an application for an operating permit and a scheduled opening.

The five improved areas include: adding warning labels to train control panels and emergency buttons, closing excessive gaps in platform end walls, securing cable tray covers, ensuring all station equipment signals are correctly returned to control centers, and fixing drooping electrical wires.

Li noted that the Sanying Line faced significant construction challenges, crossing highways, railways, and rivers at eight difficult sections. The team ensured safety throughout the process.

Furthermore, in light of the 2023 crane collapse incident on the Taichung Metro, the Sanying Line's automated trains have wider aisles and integrated front-facing image recognition systems, as well as additional emergency stop buttons inside the cars.

Regarding safety, Police Chief Fang Yang-ning stated that police and fire departments collaborated on complex simulations including arson and random attacks. More metro police units will be added in future networks to ensure passenger safety.

Transportation Bureau Chief Chung Ming-shih added that feeder bus services for each station have been planned. The metro company will begin 4-hour daily regular tests in May to collect operational parameters.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih expressed his gratitude for the team's hard work and citizen support, noting that the metro network drives economy, industry, and tourism while helping people understand New Taipei's history and culture. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150429
