(Penghu County, Central News Agency, April 29) Penghu University of Science and Technology and National Cheng Kung University jointly organized the "Penghu Unmanned Vehicle Technology and Application Forum," today signing agreements with representatives from the five major domains of military, industry, government, academia, and research, embarking on deep cooperation to jointly build Penghu into a pilot test site for smart island unmanned vehicles.

The 2026 Penghu Unmanned Vehicle Technology and Application Forum was held today in the International Conference Hall of Penghu University of Science and Technology. Penghu Deputy Magistrate Lin Chieh-hsing, Metal Industries Research & Development Center, CHT Chungwha Telecom and other leading industries, as well as representatives from several domestic universities including National Cheng Kung University and Shih Chien University, totaling over 200 people, attended. They signed agreements with the grand alliance of the five major domains of unmanned vehicles, commencing deep cooperation.

Penghu University of Science and Technology President Lee Wen-hsi stated that the unmanned vehicle technology and application forum held in Penghu today not only showcased Taiwan's technological resilience in the field of unmanned vehicles but also integrated capabilities through signing agreements with the grand alliance. This lays a solid foundation for cooperation in island defense, smart logistics, and disaster prevention systems, allowing Penghu to not only introduce smart marine vehicles and autonomous systems but also to enhance overall public safety and quality of life through the integration of AI and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) networks.

During today's forum, several special topics were presented. Yeh Yung-lan, Chief Engineer of GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc., discussed "Next-Generation Unmanned Vehicles: The Eye in the Sky for Island Defense and Disaster Relief," exploring the application of drones in frontline monitoring and emergency response. Chien Cheng, General Manager of Zelong Intelligence, shared "Taiwan's Autonomous Image Transmission and Remote Control Technology," viewing it as the "Eye in the Sky" safeguarding the Taiwan Strait, demonstrating the critical role of drones in national security and disaster relief.

The Penghu Unmanned Vehicle Technology and Application Forum, in cross-domain alliance with the five major sectors, also includes five key actions: jointly building an island security network; planning to establish an autonomous vehicle smart traffic demonstration road between Lintou Park and Aimen Beach; establishing a drone logistics delivery system from Magong to outlying islands; and overcoming environmental bottlenecks and innovating applications with the "Eye in the Sky" and technological breakthroughs in safeguarding Taiwan Strait technological defense. The forum achieved fruitful results. (Edited by Li Shu-hua) 1150429
