(Central News Agency reporter Zhao Jing-yu, Taipei, 29th) German conductor Andreas Delfs will lead the NTSO National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in concerts, inviting Johnny Teyssier, principal clarinetist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, to collaborate with the orchestra and present 'devil-level' clarinet repertoire to music lovers.

According to news released by NTSO, these concerts will focus on Nordic music, opening with Finnish composer J. Sibelius's 'Finlandia', followed by Danish composer C. Nielsen's 'Clarinet Concerto'. This concerto begins with a simple Danish style, then the music transforms, with sudden emotional shifts, furious clusters of notes, rapid staccatos, and delicate melodic lines, earning it the title of a 'grand devil's piece' for the clarinet.

The soloist for the concerto is French-American clarinetist Johnny Teyssier, currently the principal clarinetist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, who is very active in the music world and highly anticipated by music lovers. The second half of the concert will feature German composer J. Brahms's 'Symphony No. 4', which marks the 15th performance of this work since NTSO's founding.

Guest conductor Andreas Delfs holds a master's degree from the Juilliard School, having studied under Leonard Bernstein. He has served as music director and conductor for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and since 2021, he has been appointed music director of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in the United States.

The 'Delfs, Teyssier and NTSO' concerts will be held on May 2nd at the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall and on May 3rd at the National Concert Hall. In addition to the concerts, NTSO will also host a conductor and clarinet masterclass on May 1st at the Yu-Hsien Hall of National Taipei University of Education, and auditing is welcome.
