(Central News Agency reporter Chang Hsiung-feng, Taipei, 29th) The Central Weather Administration (CWA) stated that tomorrow will be the coolest day of the coming week, with northern high temperatures dropping to 22-23 degrees Celsius. With more moisture, central and northern areas should guard against local heavy rain. Temperatures will gradually recover during the Labor Day holiday, but the northeast monsoon will strengthen again next week, causing temperatures in the north to drop slightly.

CWA forecaster Huang En-hung told the Central News Agency that today's frontal rainfall mostly occurred over the northern sea of Taiwan, with only some fronts passing quickly, so most areas experienced brief showers. Currently, it's a lull in rainfall, but fronts will continue to move in tonight, so local showers or thunderstorms should still be noted.

Huang En-hung said that tomorrow there will be more moisture, with brief showers or thunderstorms still expected in various areas, and central and northern areas should still pay attention to local heavy rain, but the rain will gradually ease later in the evening. On May 1 (Labor Day), most areas will turn to cloudy to sunny skies, making it the most stable weather day of the coming week, with only scattered brief showers in Hualien-Taitung and Hengchun Peninsula, and scattered brief afternoon showers in mountainous areas south of Miaoli.

Huang En-hung pointed out that moisture will gradually increase from May 2, with localized brief afternoon thunderstorms in Greater Taipei, Yilan-Hualien, and other mountainous areas. On May 3, another front will approach, bringing localized brief showers or thunderstorms to central and southern areas, while other areas will be cloudy to sunny, with localized brief afternoon thunderstorms in Greater Taipei, northeastern, eastern areas, and other mountainous areas.

Huang En-hung said that on May 4, a front will pass and the northeast monsoon will strengthen, making central and northern areas prone to brief showers or thunderstorms, and other areas experiencing brief showers. On May 5, under the influence of the northeast monsoon and the eastward movement of the South China cloud and rain belt, northern, eastern, and central-southern mountainous areas will have brief showers. On May 6, the northeast monsoon will weaken, temperatures will rise, and central-southern mountainous areas will have localized brief afternoon showers.

Regarding temperatures, Huang En-hung mentioned that tomorrow will be the coolest day of the coming week. Under the influence of the northeast monsoon, northern high temperatures will be around 22-23 degrees, central and Hualien-Taitung around 24-27 degrees, and southern areas 29-30 degrees. Low temperatures in central and northern areas, Yilan-Hualien will be around 19-21 degrees, and southern areas 22-24 degrees. On May 1, daytime temperatures will rise, and highs are expected to reach above 30 degrees Celsius over the weekend. On May 4, the next wave of northeast monsoon will strengthen, and northern and Yilan-Hualien high temperatures will drop slightly to around 25 degrees.

Huang En-hung reminded that on May 2 and 3, Matsu is prone to low clouds or localized fog, affecting visibility. On May 3, southeastern areas should guard against foehn winds.

According to the CWA's sun halo forecast, Taipei City's Zhongxiao East and West Roads (west of Xinsheng Elevated Road) and other sections have a chance to see the sun halo from tomorrow until the evening of May 2. Taipei City's Emei Street (west of Xining South Road) and other sections have a chance to see the sun halo from the evening of May 3 to 5.

Huang En-hung added that currently, May 1 is estimated to have the highest chance of seeing the sun halo, while other times will have more clouds or brief showers, making the chance of seeing the sun halo lower. (Editor: Lee Heng-shan) 1150429
