(Central News Agency reporter Tseng Yun-ting, Taipei, 29th) In response to potential impacts on raw material supply due to fluctuations in the Middle East situation, the Ministry of Economic Affairs today stated that it has actively monitored the domestic supply and demand of asphalt and closely coordinated with major suppliers. Currently, inventory levels are sufficient to stably supply until the end of July, and market prices have also gradually stabilized.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs pointed out in a press release that domestic asphalt is mainly supplied by CPC Taiwan and China Petrochemical. As of April 28th, the total inventory of these two major manufacturers is approximately 61,000 tons. In addition, CPC Taiwan is expected to import another 9,000 tons in May. Based on the domestic monthly demand of approximately 19,000 tons, the overall inventory is sufficient to meet demand until the end of July, ensuring no supply shortages.
Regarding supply allocation, the Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that China Petrochemical has expressed its commitment to prioritize meeting domestic market demand to ensure stable supply. In terms of prices, recent asphalt prices have gradually stabilized, and quotes from CPC Taiwan and China Petrochemical are consistent, indicating normal market mechanism operation.
Addressing public concerns about rising building material prices, the Ministry of Economic Affairs emphasized that it will prevent improper price gouging or hoarding through cross-ministerial coordination and real-time response mechanisms; if violations are found, the "Joint Price Inspection Task Force" will be activated for investigation to maintain market order and public stability.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that in the face of international uncertainties, it will continue to closely monitor asphalt inventory and demand changes through industrial coordination mechanisms, maintain contact with industry players, dynamically review supply and demand situations, and assist industry players in expanding import sources to enhance overall supply capacity and ensure the stable operation of the domestic industrial chain.
