(Central News Agency reporter Huang Li-chen, Taipei, 29th) With May Day approaching, the Taipei City Police today announced that in response to multiple civil groups planning to hold gatherings and demonstrations on Ketagalan Boulevard, Jinan Road Section 1, and other sections in Zhongzheng District, traffic control duties have been planned for May 1st, reminding road users to pay attention.

The Taipei City Police Department's Zhongzheng First Precinct issued a press release stating that multiple gatherings and demonstration activities have been approved for May 1st (Friday) from 8 AM to 6 PM on sections including Ketagalan Boulevard, Jinan Road Section 1, Xiangyang Road, and Zhongshan South Road in Zhongzheng District. To maintain traffic order and safety during the activities, traffic guidance and control duties have been planned.

Zhongzheng First explained that for the 'May 1st Labor March' gathering and demonstration activity, all lanes on Ketagalan Boulevard (from Zhongshan South Road to Gongyuan Road) in both eastbound and westbound directions will be closed to traffic from 10 AM on May 1st. Traffic control will be lifted once the parade formation departs.

The civil groups will depart at 1:30 PM on the same day. The parade route is: Ketagalan Boulevard (depart after assembly) → (turn right) Gongyuan Road → (turn right) Qingdao West Road → (turn right) Zhongshan South Road (western slow lane) → (turn left) Jinan Road Section 1 (disperse after gathering).

Zhongzheng First stated that for the gathering location, Jinan Road Section 1 (from Zhongshan South Road to Zhenjiang Street) in both eastbound and westbound directions will be closed to traffic from 8:30 AM on May 1st to allow the organizers to set up stages and other equipment. The event is expected to conclude and dismantle by 6 PM that evening, after which traffic will resume.

Secondly, for the 'Abolish the Waiting Period and Reform the Family Caregiver System' gathering, from 9 AM on May 1st, one lane on the eastern slow lane of Zhongshan South Road (from Jinan Road Section 1 to Xuzhou Road) will be closed to traffic. The event is expected to conclude and dismantle by 12:20 PM that day, after which traffic will resume.

In addition, for the 'Deny the Validity of the Constitutional Amendment Articles formulated by the Eternal Parliament' gathering and demonstration, the assembly point at Xiangyang Road (from Guanqian Road to Nanyang Street) on the southern 1.5 lanes will be closed to traffic from 1 PM on May 1st. Traffic control will be lifted once the parade formation departs.

The parade will depart at 2:30 PM. The parade route is: Southern Xiangyang Road (depart after assembly) → (turn around) intersection of Xiangyang Road and Nanyang Street → (straight) Northern Xiangyang Road → (turn left) Chongqing South Road → (turn right) Hengyang Road → (turn right) Bo'ai Road → (turn right) Zhongxiao West Road → (turn right) Gongyuan Road → (turn left) Guiyang Street → (turn right) Zhongshan South Road (eastern slow lane) → (turn left) Liberty Square (disperse after gathering).

The gathering point will be on the sidewalk in front of Liberty Square from 3:30 PM on May 1st, which will not affect road traffic.

The Zhongzheng First Precinct stated that to maintain traffic order and security around important government offices such as the Presidential Office and the Judicial Yuan, traffic controls on Ketagalan Boulevard, Guiyang Street, Huaining Street, and Gongyuan Road may be expanded as necessary, based on event conditions and security considerations, to set up security barriers and prevent crowd shifts from causing conflicts.
