(Central News Agency reporter Lu Gangjun, Hsinchu County, 29th) The topping-out ceremony for the second phase of Hsinchu Hospital, National Taiwan University's Zhubei Branch, was held today. The hospital stated that the project is expected to be completed in April 2027 (ROC year 116), and will connect with the first phase building via an skybridge, expanding medical resources, gradually adding beds, and strengthening critical care capacity in the Greater Hsinchu area.

Today's ceremony was led by National Taiwan University Vice President Yang Chih-hsin, who presided over the ritual with National Taiwan University Hospital Superintendent Yu Chung-jen, Hsinchu Hospital, National Taiwan University Branch Superintendent Hung Kuan-yu, and others, praying for the project's timely completion.

Yang Chih-hsin stated in his speech that as Hsinchu is a technology hub and a city with many young families, its development requires a simultaneous提升 in medical and research capabilities. After the completion of Phase 2 of the Zhubei Branch, it will become an important base for clinical care and medical innovation, allowing medical services to advance in tandem with urban development.

Yu Chung-jen pointed out that despite challenges such as the pandemic and labor shortages during the construction period, the important milestone of the Phase 2 topping-out was achieved on schedule. Facing population growth and the trend of an aging society, the hospital will continue to strengthen the functions of the regional medical network in the future.

Hung Kuan-yu stated that the Zhubei Branch is adjacent to the Hsinchu Science Park and Hsinchu HSR Station, giving it an advantage in smart healthcare. Phase 2 of the project is planned to be 9 stories above ground and 2 stories underground, with a health management center and research and development space. Through space adjustments, the first phase medical building will gradually add beds, effectively enhancing inpatient care and critical care services.

According to news materials provided by Hsinchu Hospital, National Taiwan University Branch, after the completion of Phase 2, the overall usable space will increase by approximately 49% compared to the current situation. In the future, Phase 1 and Phase 2 buildings will be connected by an skybridge to optimize medical flow and integrate resources. Subsequent work will continue to push towards completion in April 2027 and occupancy by the end of the same year. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150429
