Groundbreaking Ceremony for Land Consolidation in Dayin, Sanxing, Yilan: Building a Well-Equipped Agricultural Zone

(CNA reporter Shen Ju-feng, Yilan County, 29th) To improve agricultural infrastructure, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Dayin Agricultural Land Consolidation Project in Sanxing Township, Yilan County, was held today. The consolidation area covers approximately 93 hectares and is expected to be completed in October next year, benefiting about 200 landowners. According to a press release from the County Government, the Dayin land consolidation area is located in the alluvial fan of the Luodong River and is a significant production area for high-value crops such as rice and Shangjiang Pears. Because the existing farmland is fragmented and lacks a complete farm road system, most fields do not have direct road access, making it difficult for large machinery to operate. Furthermore, the combined use of irrigation and drainage systems or cross-area overflow has severely impacted production efficiency and product logistics. The Sanxing Township Office proposed the consolidation in 2021, and it was approved by the Ministry of the Interior in November last year. The County Government stated that the project, costing approximately NT$270 million, is managed by the county government. 75% of the funding is subsidized by the Irrigation and Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, while the remaining 25% is shared by the landowners. The project will establish comprehensive farm roads and irrigation systems, ensuring every plot has direct road access and proper water supply and drainage, thereby increasing land value, reducing the burden on farmers, and enhancing the agricultural competitiveness of Sanxing Township.
