US-Iran War Key News
(Central News Agency Washington 29th Comprehensive Foreign Report) Agence France-Presse (AFP) today quoted an anonymous White House official as reporting that U.S. President Trump stated yesterday during a meeting with oil industry executives at the White House that the U.S. might extend its naval blockade against Iran for several more months.
U.S. news website Axios first reported on this meeting. The official told AFP that the meeting was chaired by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and discussions included measures Trump has already taken to alleviate pressure on global oil markets, as well as "what steps we can take to minimize the impact on American consumers if the existing blockade needs to continue for several months."
The official added that Trump "regularly meets with energy industry executives to hear their opinions on domestic and international energy markets," covering topics such as U.S. production, developments in Venezuela, oil futures, natural gas, and shipping.
U.S. oil giant Chevron confirmed that its CEO, Mike Wirth, attended the meeting. The official said that attendees also included U.S. Vice President JD Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. (Compiled by: Chang Cheng-chien) 1150430
