The Xindian Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department stated that at around 11 PM last night, Jiangling Police Station officers were patrolling the Xindian Central Road area when they found a passenger car illegally parked in front of a convenience store. They approached to investigate and found two Vietnamese men inside the car. The 35-year-old man in the back seat, upon hearing that the police wanted to check his identification, tried to slip into the front seat to escape, but was blocked by officers from the front door and complied with the inspection after being ordered.

According to reports, the two had traveled north from Taichung to visit friends and were preparing to return after purchasing supplies at the convenience store. After verifying their identities, the police discovered that the Vietnamese man in the back seat was wanted for three cases, including kidnapping for ransom and public endangerment, issued by the Taoyuan District Court, Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office, and Yunlin District Prosecutors' Office. Police subsequently found three bags of Schedule II methamphetamine and four bags of methylone in the car, and the 31-year-old driver admitted to possessing drugs.

The police immediately seized the drugs and took the two individuals back to the police station. After questioning, the entire case was transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office and Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office for investigation on suspicion of being a wanted criminal for kidnapping for ransom, public endangerment, and violating the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act.
