Pan Wei-sung, head of the Longteng Police Station of the Miaoli County Police Bureau's Miaoli Precinct, and relatives were traveling in China when an electric vehicle they were riding in overturned in a scenic area in Gansu, China, on April 24. Pan Wei-sung and his wife were injured, and his brother-in-law died from serious injuries. The accident caused a total of 1 death and 12 injuries.

Today, two injured members of the same group (also family members), and two family members who traveled from Taiwan to handle the aftermath, returned to Taiwan on Air China flight CA417 from Chengdu. The flight arrived at the national gate at 4:54 PM. The deceased's ashes were carried by the family in a backpack, held in their arms as they disembarked.
