Subsequently, selling pressure emerged, coupled with a strong wait-and-see atmosphere before US technology companies announced their financial reports this week, and foreign investors turning to net sellers of over NT$50 billion yesterday. The 40,000-point mark for the broader market was gained and then lost.

As of 10:25 AM, the Taiwan Stock Exchange Weighted Index reached 39688.86 points, up 72.23 points, a rise of 0.18%, with a trading value of NT$578.489 billion. The electronics index rose by 0.12%, and the financial index rose by 0.64%.

Bellwether stock TSMC, after hitting a new high of NT$2330 yesterday during trading, pulled back today, dropping to a low of NT$2230 during trading, down NT$35 or 1.55%.
