KADOKAWA, Taiwan Kadokawa, and KadoKado held a manga adaptation contest in 2024, and the grand prize winner of the Yuri category begins its serialization today. The story depicts a Japanese influencer reincarnated into Taiwan, attempting to add pearls to traditional fried rice. The '2024 KadoKado You Write, I Draw!' contest was open to Chinese-language creators. The grand prize for the Fantasy category was 'The Villain BOSS's Exclusive Pampering' by Tsao-tzu Hsin, while the Yuri category prize went to 'Why Can't You Put Pearls in Fried Rice?' by Jin An. These works are scheduled for serialization on platforms in both Taiwan and Japan. Taiwan Kadokawa stated in a press release that they have been dedicated to promoting Taiwan-Japan creative exchanges. This project features Japanese artist Rui Obata for the illustrations, transforming the text story into a manga. The story follows Satsuki Shirai, a Japanese influencer obsessed with boba, who unexpectedly reincarnates as the young owner of a traditional fried rice shop in Taiwan. She decides to run the restaurant in her own way, attempting to add her favorite pearls to Taiwanese-style fried rice, leading to strong backlash from local diners. The manga is now live on BOOK☆WALKER and will also be available on CCC Manga's international co-production zone starting May 28.
