(Central News Agency reporter Wang Chao-yu, Keelung, 28th) Sun Tsui-feng's cross-genre performance in the ancient costume musical 'Xi Shi in a Lover's Trap' is set to debut in Keelung. Sun Tsui-feng, who plays King Wu, said today that she speaks 'Taiwanese Mandarin' (a distinct accent). The theater group cleverly assigned all actors who speak Taiwanese to the Wu Kingdom, while the Yue Kingdom characters speak Mandarin.

The musical 'Xi Shi in a Lover's Trap' will be staged on May 16th at 2:30 PM at the Keelung Performing Arts Center Auditorium. The plot revolves around King Goujian of Yue, seeking revenge, offering the beauty Xi Shi to King Fuchai of Wu. Along the way to Wu, Fan Li and Xi Shi not only spent three years but also had children. The mystery then becomes: who was the woman sent into the Wu palace—Xi Shi, Dong Shi, Nan Shi, or Bei Shi?

Keelung City Government held a press conference this afternoon, inviting actors Sun Tsui-feng, Joanne Tseng, Chen Chao-ting, and Lin Jun-yi to promote the show. Sun Tsui-feng, playing King Wu, jokingly said that when she first heard the title, she wondered if they wanted her to play Xi Shi, but her age wasn't right; she'd probably have to play Xi Shi's mother.

Sun Tsui-feng said the troupe is very dedicated, with co-stars all excelling in music, speaking 'excellent Mandarin.' However, she speaks 'Taiwanese Mandarin.' The director was brilliant, immediately coming up with a solution to distinguish between the Wu and Yue kingdoms by assigning Taiwanese-speaking actors to the Wu Kingdom, which is why she plays King Wu.

Sun Tsui-feng's daughter, Chen Chao-ting, plays Dong Shi. Chen Chao-ting said she was very happy to participate in this combination of stage play and musical. She originally thought there would be a new male lead, but unexpectedly, she still ended up having a romantic plot with her mother, Sun Tsui-feng.

Joanne Tseng, playing Xi Shi, stated that in the early stages of 'Xi Shi in a Lover's Trap,' she performed entirely in Mandarin. Last year, she attempted Taiwanese, which was quite difficult for her. She is very happy to collaborate with Sun Tsui-feng because Sun Tsui-feng brings great energy to everyone during rehearsals and performances.

Lin Jun-yi, playing Fan Li, said that he finally gets to share the stage with Sun Tsui-feng in this lifetime, fulfilling another item on his life's to-do list. He expressed great admiration for Sun Tsui-feng, calling her a national treasure, noting that despite feeling unwell, as soon as she steps on stage, she 'is the king.'

This musical offers a special 25% discount to Keelung citizens, and group tickets are available at a minimum 30% discount. Keelung Deputy Mayor Chiu Pei-lin stated in an interview that the highest-priced tickets (NT$2000) have sold out, and the lowest-priced tickets are only NT$400. For NT$400, one can see Sun Tsui-feng's excellent performance, and the public is welcome to come to the auditorium to enjoy the show. (Edited by Chen Ren-hua) 1150428
