(CNA, Taipei, 28th) President Lai Ching-te today personally presented the 'Presidential Innovation Award,' stating that the government will continue to support the people and create a freer and more open environment for innovation, allowing everyone to use their diverse innovative capabilities to let the light of Taiwan shine brightly in various international fields.

The President attended the '7th Presidential Innovation Award Ceremony' and personally presented trophies to five winners, including Realtek Semiconductor, One-Forty (Taiwan 1/40 Migrant Worker Education and Culture Association), Director Hsiao Chu-chen, National Cheng Kung University Emeritus Chair Professor Wang Jung-der, and AgriWeather (Agri-weather Data) General Manager Wu Chun-hsiao.

In his speech, the President mentioned that the spirit of the Presidential Innovation Award is to encourage various sectors in Taiwan—industry, government, academia, research, and society—to respond to challenges of the times and create the nation's future with diverse innovations. This award not only honors new methods and breakthroughs but also highlights the broad vision of the Taiwanese people and their courageous spirit in facing difficulties, becoming a new paradigm for innovation.

The President pointed out that Taiwan's innovative strength is fully demonstrated by its tiny chips. As technology advances and life becomes more convenient, the world cannot do without Taiwan.

Detailing the contributions of the winners, the President said that the group winner, Realtek Semiconductor Corp., produces 2.5 billion chips annually and is the world's 7th largest fabless IC design company. From AIoT to electric vehicles, it has not only driven the high-end transformation of industries but also consolidated Taiwan's irreplaceable leading position in the global semiconductor industry. Realtek's chips not only connect Taiwan to the world but also accelerate technological development.

The President explained that besides being world-famous for chips, everyone knows Taiwan's most beautiful scenery is its people. He hopes that all who come to Taiwan from all over the world to work, regardless of nationality or background, can feel the warmth of home as long as they live in Taiwan.

Regarding One-Forty, it created a migrant worker learning platform that has accompanied over 100,000 migrant workers in their learning and growth, promoting a friendly environment in schools and enterprises, and building an important bridge between Taiwan society and migrant workers, making Taiwan warmer and more beautiful.

The President explained that innovation is not just moving forward into the future but also stopping to look back at one's roots. He expressed his highest respect to Hsiao Chu-chen, who for 30 years has detailed the social changes in Taiwan and shown the Taiwanese spirit through important works like 'Mountain Makers' and 'Red Leaf Legend,' leaving an international cultural memory for Taiwan's industrial development.

The President believes that as the country grows and society progresses, the health of the people must be prioritized. Wang Jung-der is a key figure in driving the national occupational medicine specialist system. His long-term dedication to occupational disease research has made huge contributions to occupational medicine, labor safety, health insurance decision-making, and public health. 'As his student, I am honored that the teacher won the award.'

The President stated that the winner of the Youth Category is Wu Chun-hsiao, General Manager of AgriWeather. Wu, with the enthusiasm and mission of a data scientist, led his team to develop an AI crop and soil monitoring system. Using satellite spectra and algorithms, they have made Taiwan's smart agriculture more precise and efficient. Furthermore, they have promoted Taiwan's experience to 32 countries worldwide, representing a successful diplomacy combining agriculture and technology.

The President emphasized that the starting point of innovation is to solve problems. There is no standard answer for innovation, but there is a common goal: to make the country progress, society prosper, the people happier, and the world better because of Taiwan. In the future, the government will continue to support the people, creating a freer and more open environment for innovation, using diverse innovative capabilities to let the light of Taiwan shine brightly in various international fields.
