(Central News Agency reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, April 28) A 28-year-old female police officer surnamed Cheng from the Tainan City Police Bureau's Fourth Precinct died today while on leave, riding her motorcycle through Annan District. She was allegedly rear-ended by a motorcycle, then grazed by a tour bus, fell, and was run over, dying instantly. The cause of the accident awaits investigation and clarification.
The police informed the Central News Agency that at around 7 AM today, Ms. Cheng was riding her motorcycle on Section 2 of Anhe Road in Annan District when she allegedly encountered slowing traffic. A 20-year-old female surnamed Dai, riding a motorcycle behind her, allegedly failed to notice the situation ahead and rear-ended her, causing Ms. Cheng to swerve left, collide with a tour bus, fall, and then be run over, dying on the spot.
The Fourth Precinct stated that Ms. Cheng was from the 2022 police special examination class and was assigned to the Fourth Precinct in 2024. She had been a police officer for about two years and was currently serving at the Yiping Police Station. During her tenure, she performed excellently, worked diligently, treated others sincerely, and got along well with colleagues.
