Legislator Chen Ying Requests ATM Installation at Lanyu and Green Island Airports

Legislator Chen Ying led a team to Lanyu yesterday to inspect the ongoing airport renovation project. During her visit, she discovered that neither Lanyu nor Green Island airports had ATMs, causing significant inconvenience for travelers and locals. She has requested the Ministry of Transportation to address this issue. Chen told the Central News Agency today that she visited Lanyu accompanied by Lanyu Mayor Wu Ching-mei and other local officials. She pointed out that while all other offshore island airports in Taiwan have ATMs, Lanyu and Green Island are the only exceptions, with Lanyu having a more pressing need. Currently, Lanyu has only three ATMs: one at a 7-11 in Dongqing, one at the Farmers' Association at Kaiyuan Harbor, and one at the Lanyu Post Office. The nearest one to the airport is 2.6 km away, which is problematic for those needing immediate cash. Chen noted that she requested relevant units in the Legislative Yuan to install ATMs in both temporary and permanent terminals. She expressed gratitude to the Civil Aeronautics Administration and Chunghwa Post for their willingness to comply. The Lanyu temporary terminal, costing NT$299 million, is nearing completion, while the Green Island one (NT$285 million) will be finished in June. Permanent terminals for both are expected by December 2027, with ATM installations following the construction schedule.
