(Central News Agency reporter Lin Qiaoling Kaohsiung 28th news) The Kaohsiung City Economic Development Bureau announced that the 'Industrial Development Investment Promotion Subsidy' for fiscal year 115 has been launched. This year, the total subsidy amount reaches NT$100 million, focusing on key industries such as semiconductors, electric vehicles, smart electronics, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, information and communication technology (ICT), and green energy.

The Economic Development Bureau issued a press release today stating that this year's 'Industrial Development Investment Promotion Subsidy' is open for applications starting today until July 1st. It will continue to guide companies to increase investment and upgrade transformation through policy tools, accelerating the promotion of net-zero and digital twin layouts. Liao Taixiang, Director-General of the Economic Development Bureau, said that Kaohsiung's investment attraction results continue to materialize, with cumulative investment exceeding NT$1.14 trillion. Recently, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) Holding Group continued to increase its investment in Kaohsiung. Its subsidiary, Taiwan Fu Lei Electronics, has teamed up with eMemory Technology and HonorTech to expand investment, with a total investment of NT$114.5 billion, expected to create over 2,200 job opportunities. This highlights the accelerating trend of semiconductor supply chain clustering in Kaohsiung.

Liao Taixiang pointed out that the city government's promotion of 'net-zero and digital twin transformation' has gradually become the main axis of industrial development. Through the subsidy mechanism, the threshold for corporate investment is effectively lowered, initial introduction costs are shared, and the application of new technologies and process upgrades are accelerated. This assists companies in enhancing their resilience and competitive advantages amidst global supply chain restructuring and the trend of net-zero transformation.

According to data from the Economic Development Bureau, since the industrial promotion subsidy was launched in 2013, a cumulative total of 171 cases have been approved, driving nearly NT$120 billion in investment and creating over 26,000 job opportunities. Taking fiscal year 114 as an example, subsidized companies such as Radiant Opto-Electronics and DU DU Co., Ltd. have demonstrated transformation results in the smart electronics and digital content fields, respectively, enhancing added value through the introduction of smart equipment and strengthening R&D capabilities.

The Economic Development Bureau explained that subsidy items cover loan interest, rent, house tax, and salaries for newly employed local workers. The application threshold is a new investment of NT$30 million or the creation of 30 new local jobs. For announced key development industries, the threshold is relaxed to NT$10 million in investment or 10 new local jobs.
