Central News Agency (CNA) reporter Li Jianzhong, Taipei, 28th - The ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships, held in London, UK, will commence tonight. Both Taiwan's men's and women's teams are categorized as Level 1 teams and will compete later in the tournament. Veteran female player Cheng I-Ching is making her 10th appearance in 20 years and hopes to achieve good results.

For the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Team Table Tennis Championships, Taiwan's men's team consists of Lin Yun-Ju, Feng Yi-Hsin, Kuo Kuan-Hung, Hung Ching-Kai, and Hsu Hsien-Chia. The women's team includes Cheng I-Ching, Yeh Yi-Tien, Peng Yu-Han, Chen Szu-Yu, and Wu Ying-Hsuan.

Based on national world rankings, the top 8 seeded teams are classified as Level 1. The preliminary rounds are divided into two groups. Taiwan's men's team is in the same group as France, Japan, and Germany. Similarly, Taiwan's women's team is in the same preliminary group as China, South Korea, and Romania.

In addition to the 8 Level 1 seeded teams for both men's and women's events, there are also 56 Level 2 teams divided into Groups 3 to 16.

The preliminary rounds adopt a round-robin system. All 8 Level 1 teams can advance to the second stage, the knockout rounds, with the difference being their seeding ranking after qualification.

As for the 56 Level 2 teams, the first-place team from each group and the 6 best second-place teams across all groups (a total of 20 teams) will directly advance. The remaining 8 second-place teams with poorer results will play an additional playoff match, from which 4 teams will qualify for the top 32.

Cheng I-Ching, currently 34 years old, first participated in the World Team Table Tennis Championships in 2006. Twenty years have passed, and this year marks her 10th participation. She smiled and said, "Time flies, I'm very happy to still be able to stay on the court, and I will try my best to perform well in the competition." (Editor: Chen Renhua)
