Four men, including 27-year-old Yang Cheng-jie, have been indicted for allegedly collaborating with overseas hackers to break into PChome (PChome Online Inc.) member accounts. They stole stored-value credits totaling over 1.21 million TWD using a technique known as 'credential stuffing.'

According to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, the group, with an average age of about 27, formed a criminal organization in September 2024 along with overseas hackers nicknamed 'Check' and 'Yang Lei.' Between October 2 and 5, 2024, 'Yang Lei' used leaked account credentials and automated scripts to infiltrate PChome's servers and access member accounts.

The organization used the stolen credits to purchase high-liquidity items, such as Microsoft Xbox digital gift cards, Carrefour electronic vouchers, and FamilyMart gift cards. These were then laundered or used for personal shopping through various member accounts.

Following the investigation, prosecutors charged the four men with offenses including participating in a criminal organization, fraud, and forgery. The prosecutor noted that the suspects undermined public trust in online transactions and caused significant financial harm. A sentence of 2 years and 6 months was requested for Yang, while the other three face recommended sentences of 1 year and 4 months.
