(Central News Agency reporter Chao Li-yen, Taichung, April 28) Former Taichung City Government Land Administration Bureau director Wu Tsun-chin was accused of fraudulently claiming a total of NT$68,679 in special expenses for officials using family meal receipts. A first-instance ruling today sentenced Wu Tsun-chin to 2 years imprisonment with 5 years probation under the Anti-Corruption Act. The judgment can be appealed.

Today morning, the Taichung District Court announced its verdict, sentencing Wu Tsun-chin to 2 years imprisonment, 2 years deprivation of civil rights, and a 5-year suspended sentence under the Anti-Corruption Act. She was also ordered to undergo 5 legal education sessions and perform 240 hours of community service during her probation period.

During the trial, Wu Tsun-chin fully admitted to the charges and expressed remorse in court. Her defense attorney also requested probation, citing the small amount of each fraudulent claim, the full restitution of the illicit gains, and the existence of meetings.

According to the prosecutor's indictment, Wu Tsun-chin served as the director of the Taichung City Government Land Administration Bureau from December 2018 to February 2025. She took advantage of the opportunity to claim a monthly special expense of NT$39,700 with original receipts. From November 2019 to May 2024, she consumed meals at 11 restaurants in Taichung, all for family gatherings rather than official expenses. She still instructed the restaurants to issue invoices or receipts with the Land Administration Bureau's uniform number.

Wu Tsun-chin then presented these receipts to unsuspecting Land Administration Bureau clerks and accounting personnel for reimbursement, thereby fraudulently claiming a total of NT$68,679 in special expenses. After investigation by the prosecutor, Wu Tsun-chin was prosecuted for violating the Anti-Corruption Act and committing forgery under the Criminal Code. (Editor: Wu Su-jou) 1150428
