Changhua Police Bust Fraud and Drug Ring; Suspect Caught Fleeing in Underwear

The Changhua County Police Department held a 'Fraud Combat Dashboard' press conference today to announce recent investigation results. Police dismantled a 13-member cross-county fraud group through strategic tracking and also uncovered a drug packaging site. One suspect attempted to escape by climbing from a balcony in only his underwear to avoid detection but was ultimately apprehended by a coordinated police force.

Changhua Police Chief Chen Shih-huang stated during the conference that 1,569 fraud cases were handled in the first quarter of this year, with total financial losses of NT$514.73 million. Compared to the same period last year, the number of cases decreased by 177, and losses fell by NT$292.16 million, indicating a stable security situation.

The Yuanlin Police Division followed up on leads regarding foreign bank book couriers, leading to the discovery of a fraud group that frequently moved its base between Wuchi, Wuri, and Beitun districts in Taichung to evade capture. Police executed six rounds of searches and arrested 13 defendants.

In a separate case, the Lukang Police Division acted on drug intelligence to bust a packaging site. A suspect tried to flee via a balcony in his underwear, and police called in firefighters for support to ensure safety before making the arrest. Authorities seized Etomidate, Amphetamines, and manufacturing tools.

Additionally, Chen warned against 'escort scam' tactics where criminals use stolen photos on social media to lure victims into buying game credits for 'verification' or 'deposits.' He urged the public not to pay and to report such incidents immediately.
