April 28 Child Protection Day: Yunlin Government, Council, and TCCF Declare Safe Environment

(Central News Agency, Reporter Jiang Yi-ching, Yunlin, 28th) Yunlin County saw nearly 2,000 child protection and sexual violence cases in 2025, with cases of online sexual exploitation steadily rising. The Yunlin County Government, Council, and Yunlin TCCF (Taiwan Fund for Children and Families) vowed today, on Child Protection Day, to build a safe environment for children. April 28th is National Child Protection Day. The Yunlin TCCF held an awareness event using situational plays and interactive experiences to transform the concepts of "body boundaries" and "consent" into everyday actions, conveying the important message of "dare to say 'NO'." Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan and Speaker Huang Kai called on all sectors of society to care for child safety and foster a friendly, non-violent growth environment. Chen Tsan-hsun, chairman of the Yunlin TCCF, pointed out that according to Ministry of Health and Welfare statistics, there were 1,967 child protection and sexual violence cases in Yunlin in 2025. National data also shows that about 70% of cases involve social media and messaging apps, with victims mainly aged between 12 and 18, highlighting the increasing importance of digital risk education. Chang Li-shan emphasized that child protection is not only about avoiding harm but also about ensuring children feel their feelings are respected.
