TAIPEI (CNA) — The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) stated today that Deputy Minister Hou Yi-shou led a delegation to Brussels, Belgium on the 23rd to co-chair the 3rd Taiwan-EU Digital Economy Dialogue with Renate Nikolay, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's DG CONNECT. The meeting focused on semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI) policies, and other issues to deepen cooperation in digital transformation. MODA pointed out in a press release that the 'Taiwan-EU Digital Economy Dialogue' is a key platform for bilateral digital economic policy dialogue. The resumption of this dialogue is significant for promoting linkages and cooperation in the digital field between both sides comprehensively. The agenda included semiconductors, AI policies, digital platform regulations, data governance, subsea cables, cybersecurity, 5G and 6G development, digital skills, and audiovisual policies. Hou Yi-shou expressed that facing the paradigm shift brought by rapid AI development, there is a need not only for technological breakthroughs but also for 'value navigation.' Establishing a trustworthy digital environment is an urgent task. This meeting allowed both sides to exchange views on promoting a trustworthy digital ecosystem and an innovation-driven digital development environment for the future.
