(Central News Agency reporter Wang Pao-er, Taipei, 28th) Following the first Youth Comic Award held by the Ministry of Culture last year, which attracted over 250 entries, the second Youth Comic Award opened for submissions today. Adjustments have been made based on the experience of the first competition; in addition to accepting "page comics" for individual entries, "webtoon" format submissions have also been added.

The Ministry of Culture announced today in a press release that the 2nd Youth Comic Award is divided into individual and group categories, with a total prize money of NT$1.23 million. It welcomes high school students and youth nationwide to participate enthusiastically, hoping that through the Youth Comic Award and a series of courses and activities, more young people will be encouraged to engage with original Taiwanese comics and discover potential new talents to commit to creation.

The first Youth Comic Award's individual category only accepted four-panel comics. To make the regulations more aligned with actual creative situations, the Ministry of Culture stated that, referencing judges' opinions and actual participation in the previous session, the submission specifications for both group and individual categories have been adjusted. The individual category is now adjusted to 1 to 4 pages of "page comics" or up to 20 panels of "webtoons."

For group entries, submissions are 16 to 48 pages of "page comics" or 50 panels (or more) of "webtoons." Additionally, considering that group entries are collaborative creations, the rewards focus on the overall performance of the work, so the Ministry of Culture stated that the Special Jury Award in the group category has been removed, and the number of awards and prize money for the individual category have been increased accordingly.

To continue nurturing young comic creators, the Ministry of Culture will organize a series of empowerment and guidance courses, and will also combine exhibitions, exchange activities, and outcome displays to provide more exposure opportunities for winning works, allowing the public to see the abundant energy of Taiwanese youth comic creation and further foster a comic creation atmosphere on campuses.

The 2nd Youth Comic Award accepts submissions from today until October 2. The exhibition of winning works from the 1st Youth Comic Award is currently on display at the East Campus of the National Comics Museum until August 16. (Edited by Li Heng-shan) 1150428
