Multiple Indonesian media outlets reported a collision between two trains today in Bekasi, a city near the capital Jakarta. The state-owned Indonesian railway company, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), stated that there are casualties at the scene and evacuation efforts are currently underway.
According to an AFP report, KAI spokesperson Anne Purba said in a statement that they are making every effort to evacuate passengers and staff while attending to the victims at the site. The accident reportedly occurred near Bekasi Timur Station, located approximately 25 kilometers from Jakarta.
