Taoyuan, April 27 (CNA) — In response to the upcoming Labor Day long weekend, the Daxi Precinct of the Taoyuan City Police Bureau today announced traffic diversion measures in advance. According to a press release from the Daxi Precinct of the Taoyuan City Police Bureau, the Labor Day long weekend will be three days, from May 1st to 3rd. While there will be no high-occupancy vehicle restrictions on the National Freeway No. 3 Daxi interchange ramps from May 1st to 3rd, traffic in the old city area will be controlled. Heping Old Street will be designated as a pedestrian zone daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, and traffic control will be implemented at the five-way intersection of Kangzhuang Road and Heping Road.

The Daxi Precinct stated that for those leaving Daxi towards Sanxia, it is recommended to turn right from Zhonghua Road onto Xinyi Road. For those heading towards Yingge, Dahuang Road can be used to connect to the National Freeway No. 3 San-Ying interchange. Southbound traffic on Kangzhuang Road is advised to take Provincial Highway No. 4 connecting to Provincial Highway No. 3B towards Longtan or Gaoyuan interchange. For those going south to Shihmen Reservoir, Provincial Highway No. 3B can be accessed from the central control station within the reservoir towards Gaoyuan interchange.

As for alternative routes down the mountain in Fuxing District, people heading towards Hsinchu are advised to take Roman Highway (Taoyuan Route 118) towards Guanxi Township in Hsinchu County. Those heading towards Taipei are advised to take Provincial Highway No. 7B towards Sanxia, connecting to the National Freeway No. 3 San-Ying interchange.

To encourage the public to use public transport more, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Directorate General of Highways offers an 85% discount on fares for 86 long-distance national highway bus routes from 0:00 on April 30th to 11:59 PM on May 3rd. Coupled with frequent traveler benefits and TPASS 2.0 feedback measures, up to a 60% discount can be enjoyed. People taking high-speed rail, Taiwan Railway, and national highway buses can enjoy basic mileage or one-section fare, as well as free rides on designated Happiness Bus routes, if they transfer to local buses within 10 hours using electronic tickets.
