(Central News Agency reporter Su Mu-chun, Taichung, 27th) A man surnamed Zhang and a man surnamed Lin allegedly had a drug dealing dispute. Yesterday, they were negotiating in a car by the roadside near the Taichung District Court. During the process, Zhang shot Lin and then fled. Lin was sent to the hospital. Police tracked down and arrested Zhang. After investigation by prosecutors, Zhang was approved for detention and restricted visitation by the court on charges of attempted murder and other offenses.

After a detention hearing held by the Taiwan Taichung District Court this evening, it was determined that there were grounds and necessity for detaining the defendant, Zhang. The court ruled for detention and restricted visitation at 9 PM.

Police and prosecutors found that before the incident, the 46-year-old man surnamed Zhang got into the passenger seat of the 27-year-old man surnamed Lin's car at the intersection of Siwei Street and Fuhou Street in West District, near the Taichung District Court. The two negotiated inside the car, and then Zhang fired one shot at Lin's abdomen inside the car, immediately got out, and fled on foot.

After receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene and found the 27-year-old man surnamed Lin with a gunshot wound to the abdomen but conscious. He was immediately sent to China Medical University Hospital for treatment. Police and prosecutors speculate that Zhang and Lin had a drug dealing dispute, which led to the conflict.

After police questioning, Zhang was transferred to the Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office this afternoon for investigation. After further questioning by prosecutors, it was determined that he was heavily suspected of committing attempted murder under the Criminal Code and violations of the Firearms, Ammunition, and Knives Control Act. Due to concerns about flight, destruction of evidence, collusion with accomplices, and repeated commission of murder or injury, prosecutors applied to the court for detention and restricted visitation, which was granted.
