(Central News Agency reporter Tseng Yun-ting, Taipei, 27th) To promote a family-friendly childcare environment, the Ministry of Economic Affairs Industrial Park Bureau stated today that among the 81 parks nationwide, only 7 currently have childcare institutions. In the future, newly established parks will proactively plan for childcare facilities. Among them, the Nanzih Technology Industrial Park will add an infant care center for children under two years old, expected to commence operations by the end of next year, with plans to accommodate 60 infants, thereby improving the childcare system.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs held a press conference today titled "Friendly Childcare Retains Talent, Happy Workplaces for a Good Future." Liu Jichuan, Deputy Director of the Industrial Park Bureau, stated that to implement President Lai Ching-te's policy of "the state raises children from 0 to 6 years old," after reviewing existing park resources, currently only 7 locations—Keelung Dawulun, Hsinchu, Yunlin, Taichung Dajia Youshi, Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, Kaohsiung Nanzih, and Yilan Longde—have childcare institutions, enrolling a total of 416 people, helping employees balance work and family.

Liu Jichuan mentioned that the conditions for establishing childcare facilities are strict, including restrictions such as the venue needing to be on the third floor or below. However, most parks have been established for over 30 years, and early buildings did not incorporate such planning. Most low-floor spaces are already occupied by administrative units or financial institutions, leading to limited available sites. After assessment, only 7 locations were found to be more suitable for establishment.

However, Liu Jichuan also discussed that the Industrial Park Bureau encourages large-scale park manufacturers to set up their own kindergartens or infant care centers, such as semiconductor giant ASE Technology Holding, which established the "San Hao Kindergarten." There is also a model where the Ministry of Labor set up kindergartens in the Tainan Guantian Industrial Park to meet the childcare needs of park workers.

Liu Jichuan explained that future newly established parks will "preemptively deploy" by reserving childcare spaces when building service centers or new buildings. This planning will be included in four industrial parks currently under development by Taiwan Sugar Corporation in Chiayi, Kaohsiung, and Tainan. New projects in technology industrial parks like Pingtung, Renwu, and Nanzih will also prioritize reserving childcare and infant care spaces.

Liu Jichuan pointed out that in addition to the existing kindergarten, the Nanzih Technology Industrial Park has received approval from the Ministry of Health and Welfare for NT$22.82 million to establish an infant care center for children under two years old. It is expected to complete renovation and commence operations by December next year, accommodating 60 infants, further expanding the capacity for childcare services. (Editor: Chang Jo-yao) 1150427
