Taipei, April 27 (CNA) - Benefiting from recent spring rainfall and effective water-saving measures, the nationwide water situation has stabilized. The Hsinchu area's water alert level has been downgraded from a 'Yellow' light (reduced pressure) to a 'Green' light (water reminder) starting today, while other regions remain normal or stable.

The WRA stated that spring rains from the 23rd to the 25th brought approximately 46 million tons of water to reservoirs across Taiwan. Shihmen Reservoir saw an intake of 8.6 million tons, while Baoshan and Baoshan II Reservoirs in Hsinchu recovered to nearly 70% capacity. In southern Taiwan, despite lower rainfall, strategic transfers and the use of river flow from the Gaoping River have ensured that major supply reservoirs in Tainan can support public needs until the end of June.

With the improving situation, the voluntary water-saving target for science and industrial parks has been lowered from 7% to 5%. The WRA emphasized that while the outlook is positive, they will continue to monitor rainfall and prepare for the upcoming monsoon and flood season to ensure consistent water security.
