(Central News Agency reporter Kao Hua-chien, Taipei, 27th) Premier Cho Jung-tai said today that due to the international situation, prices of some important raw materials are showing an upward trend, but the domestic overall supply of raw materials is expected to be generally stable until August this year. All ministries should extend the current raw material stabilization measures from the original planned schedule to the fourth quarter of this year, making preparations earlier.

The Executive Yuan issued a press release stating that Cho Jung-tai chaired the "Emergency Response Meeting for Middle East Conflict and Public Livelihood Stability" and said that due to the international situation, prices of some important raw materials are showing an upward trend, increasing the cost burden on businesses. However, the domestic overall supply of raw materials is expected to be generally stable until August this year, and various stabilization measures continue to be implemented. He asked all ministries to continue observing the development of the overall international situation and take necessary response actions in a timely manner.

Regarding the implementation of transportation fare stabilization measures, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said that it had announced "Taxi Fuel Subsidy Measures" at a press conference on the 23rd. The system and administrative procedures are currently being linked, and it is expected to be launched on May 20. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications also proposed fare stabilization measures for highway passenger transport, domestic vessels, and domestic airlines, absorbing the pressure of rising oil prices through subsidies to fully stabilize fares.

Cho Jung-tai said that the measures proposed by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications primarily aim to directly assist transportation operators affected by rising oil prices. Not only is the application process simplified, but direct disbursement through the system also allows operators to feel the government's assistance and dedication.

Regarding asphalt supply, the Ministry of Economic Affairs explained that after inventorying CPC and CCPC's asphalt stocks, there are 61,000 tons available. Based on an estimated domestic demand of about 19,000 tons per month, it is confirmed that there is sufficient supply until the end of June. Cho Jung-tai stated that with the asphalt supply already under control, the Ministry of Economic Affairs should continue to monitor price changes and observe whether there is a trend of stabilization.

Cho Jung-tai pointed out that as May approaches, all ministries should extend the current raw material stabilization measures from the original planned schedule to the fourth quarter of this year, making preparations earlier, and propose effective response plans and actions to reduce the uncertain impact brought by international conflicts. The government will also continue to monitor market dynamics to ensure domestic public livelihood stability.

Cho Jung-tai also requested the Ministry of Justice and the Fair Trade Commission to continue strengthening investigation efforts and combating illegal activities to maintain market order. (Editor: Wan Shu-chang) 1150427
