TAICHUNG (CNA) -- The Veterans Affairs Council (VAC) built the "Anxin Yulao" platform last year, integrating real-time notification, risk early warning, and inter-agency transfer functions, which is being promoted this year throughout the Veterans Medical System and Veterans Service Offices. Taichung Veterans General Hospital today stated that through the platform, they can rapidly grasp the physical condition of the elderly and immediately handle acute injuries and illnesses.

The VAC constructed the "Anxin Yulao" platform last year, integrating real-time notification, risk early warning, and inter-agency transfer functions, which is being fully promoted this year in veterans medical systems and veterans service offices across various locations. For high-risk elderly individuals such as those living alone, the platform incorporates remote home care systems and smart monitoring equipment to ensure immediate notification and response to emergencies, significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

Taichung Veterans General Hospital explained that Mr. Zhao, a 101-year-old single veteran living alone, accidentally fell at home earlier this year and sought treatment at a clinic. When personnel from the Veterans Service Office visited him, they found he still had multiple pains, diarrhea, and fever, so they sent him to Taichung Veterans General Hospital.

The medical team assessed Mr. Zhao and found a wound on his left scalp, which they sutured. During his subsequent hospitalization, he was also diagnosed with knee edema, for which he received fluid extraction treatment. The medical team assessed that his knee condition would affect his mobility in the future, making it unsuitable for him to live alone after discharge, so they arranged for him to transfer to the Puli Branch Nursing Home. Taichung VGH stated that from the fall incident, to medical treatment, to long-term care placement, the platform connected the entire process, building a safety net with technology to firmly secure the safety of the elderly.

Lin Shih-yi, director of the Geriatric Medicine Center at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, stated that the medical team reviewed Mr. Zhao's care records through the platform, rapidly grasping the elderly patient's physical state. Not only did they immediately handle acute injuries and illnesses, but they also used the platform to reflect long-term care needs and persuade Mr. Zhao to accept placement, embodying the platform's core spirit of 'one point of change, comprehensive support.' This platform has also transformed the care of community-dwelling single elderly veterans into a new digitized model.

Taichung Veterans General Hospital pointed out that Taichung VGH also collaborates with Miaoli, Taichung, and Changhua Veterans Service Offices, leveraging a smart management APP to provide medical care to elderly individuals in remote mountainous areas or those with mobility issues without needing long-distance travel. Through the "Anxin Yulao" platform, multi-departmental cooperation proactively reaches out, overcoming barriers of space and mobility, bringing medical resources to every place in need.
