(Central News Agency reporter Zhao Jing-yu, Taipei, 27th) The Paper Windmill Theatre for Children will head to Baishatun, Miaoli, to perform as a votive offering. On May 3rd, they will stage "Shunfeng Er's New Incense Burner" at the second parking lot of Gongtian Temple. Those who join the Paper Windmill "Chair Club" will have a chance to receive a limited edition Mazu blessing card from Baishatun.
Zhang Min-yi, CEO of the Paper Windmill Cultural Foundation, stated today via a press release that since the unexpected "seating" of Baishatun Mazu's palanquin to watch their show in Taichung in January 2026, Mazu's blessing seems to have become the warmest footnote for the past three months. The Paper Windmill specially prayed to Baishatun Mazu again for limited blessing cards, to be given to members who join the "Chair Club," coinciding with "Mazu's Birthday" and the Mother's Day感恩月 (gratitude month).
In early January, as Paper Windmill was preparing for its first performance in Taichung, Mazu's palanquin unexpectedly arrived at the venue. The palanquin bearers conveyed: "No need to stop on stage, Mazu is here to watch the show." Four red plastic chairs were quickly placed in front of the stage, and Mazu's palanquin sat down like an audience member, only slowly departing after watching the entire song and dance performance. Before leaving, it lightly touched the stage, leaving encouragement, and also became the "Chair Club" donation project for the 368 Children's Art Project.
According to Paper Windmill's information, people who donate NT$1000 can join the "Chair Club." The funds are mainly used for expenses such as chairs, raincoats, supplies, and transportation shuttles at the performance venue, supporting the basic needs of the performances. Zhang Min-yi stated that Paper Windmill is like Mazu's hands and feet, executing the "Project of Love" 368 Children's Art Project. Every "Chair Head" in the "Chair Club" will accompany children to grow up safely.
When the "Chair Club" was first established, Gongtian Temple immediately provided 100 Mazu blessing cards from Baishatun, which were snapped up instantly that day. Now, coinciding with the upcoming Mother's Day in May, Paper Windmill has again prayed to Mazu for blessing cards, to be given to donors who donate NT$1000 to join the "Chair Club." They hope that by launching the Baishatun Mazu's child-loving blessing cards, more people will be invited to support this force that protects children. (Editor: Guan Zhong-wei) 1150427
