(Central News Agency reporter Wang Chao-yu, Keelung, 27th) Oil pollution was found accumulated along the banks of the Keelung River near Qianxiang Bridge today. The Keelung Environmental Protection Bureau dispatched personnel to the scene and deployed absorption socks at the Dunan Pumping Station gates. No ongoing discharge is currently observed, and the bureau is investigating the source. Bureau Chief Ma Zhong-hao stated that they received a report from the New Taipei Environmental Bureau at 1:23 PM and arrived by 1:50 PM. To prevent spread, two layers of absorption socks were installed. Water quality tests showed normal results (pH 7.85, temp 26.2°C, conductivity 169.8μS/cm). Taiwan Water Corporation also confirmed no impact on water supply. Investigators traced the spill to a manhole in the direction of Bade Road but found no suspicious signs on surface drains. Discharge has stopped, and follow-up searches will continue tomorrow.
