(Taipei, April 27, CNA reporter Yang Yao-ju) Foreign Minister Joseph Wu completed his visit to Eswatini, inspecting the results of agricultural and fisheries cooperation between the two countries on the last day of his trip. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Wu's visit demonstrated Taiwan's unwavering determination and resilience to engage with the world despite difficulties.

On April 25, Joseph Wu, as President Tsai Ing-wen's special envoy, visited the Kingdom of Eswatini, a diplomatic ally in Africa, to attend celebrations including King Mswati III's 40th coronation anniversary, 58th birthday, and Eswatini's 58th Independence Day.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release tonight, stating that Joseph Wu successfully concluded his two-day visit to the Kingdom of Eswatini on April 26. He then returned to Taiwan by plane, seen off by Eswatini's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pholile Shakantu, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, and overseas compatriots.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that on the last day of the trip, in addition to inspecting the operation of the "Smart Outpatient Clinic" of the medical mission stationed in Eswatini, Joseph Wu also visited the "Aquaculture Research and Production Center," which will be officially launched in 2025. This center, through large-scale fish fry cultivation and growth optimization technologies, has successfully assisted Eswatini in transforming traditional family-based aquaculture into a more commercially scaled industrial system, significantly enhancing the economic benefits of aquatic products.

In terms of agriculture, Joseph Wu also inspected a fruit tree demonstration farm, examining the cultivation results of high-economic value crops such as guava, dragon fruit, and strawberries. These projects have successfully driven the transformation of Eswatini's agricultural structure, enabling local farmers to participate in higher-profit market competition.

Joseph Wu emphasized that the core of these cooperation projects is to promote the sustainable upgrading and commercialization of Eswatini's industries, and with the goal of "Taiwan can help, Eswatini can lead," he reiterated that Taiwan will continue to support Eswatini in demonstrating leadership in various fields.

Although Joseph Wu's visit to Eswatini was only for two short days, he overcame all difficulties to personally represent Taiwan in conveying congratulations to Eswatini. This not only further deepened the bilateral friendship between Taiwan and Eswatini but also laid a more solid foundation for the vision of sustainable prosperity for both countries, and simultaneously demonstrated to the world Taiwan's unwavering determination and resilience to engage with the world despite difficulties.
