The Ministry of Education issued a press release today stating that to make English learning more relevant to children's lives, the K-12 Education Administration has been promoting the "Project to Assist Public Elementary and Junior High Schools in Introducing Foreign English Teaching Assistants" since the 110th academic year. Through the collaboration between foreign English teaching assistants and in-school teachers, it helps schools develop life-oriented and situational English learning environments.
The K-12 Education Administration will subsidize NT$83 million in the 114th academic year to assist 611 elementary and junior high schools nationwide in introducing foreign English teaching assistants, allowing children to engage with and use English in natural interactions, and gradually integrate English into the daily campus environment.
The K-12 Education Administration stated that it hopes to encourage schools to develop diverse bilingual learning models based on their unique characteristics and curriculum needs. Through the companionship and cultural exchange with foreign English teaching assistants, students will gradually move from being shy and hesitant to speak, to being willing to try and express themselves freely. This not only enhances their English communication skills but also builds confidence and broadens their horizons in every interaction.
Taking New Taipei City's Ruiting Elementary School as an example, foreign English teaching assistants and in-school teachers accompany children to bring English into their lives through activities such as "Walking Tours," "Food and Agriculture Experiences," "International Exchange," and "Ordering in English." These activities help children build the courage to speak English in real interactions, making English a warm bridge connecting life, people, and the world for them.
Jiayi City's Zhixing Elementary School, on the other hand, integrates English, sports, technology, and sustainable learning into activities through its "Weekend English Sports Camp" and "Bilingual Drone Camp," allowing children to naturally use English and explore new knowledge through hands-on practice, joyful participation, and brave challenges.
