Miaoli City's 345km 'Bicycle Pilgrimage' to Beigang: Registration Opens April 28

The Miaoli City Office is combining religion and sports for its annual 'Bicycle Pilgrimage' cultural event. This year, 300 cyclists will attempt a 2-day, 1-night round-trip journey from Miaoli Mazu Temple to Beigang Chao-Tian Temple in Yunlin. The event commemorates the historical memory of local youths who cycled south for pilgrimage in earlier years. Mayor Yu Wen-chung and other officials held a press conference today to unveil the Mazu palanquin. The itinerary includes a 'Participants' Night' on May 15 with markets and performances, the main pilgrimage departure on May 16, and a homecoming ceremony on May 17. A special 5km 'Welcoming Group' using 120 YouBike electric bikes is also available for those unable to complete the full distance. Registration starts April 28 via the Taiwan Ironman Sport Association website.
