(Central News Agency reporter Chen Jie-ling, Tseng Yi-ning, Taipei, 27th) The investigation report on the discolored GSK flu vaccine in New Taipei, which led to 14 counties suspending its use, was released today. The TFDA stated that it was not a systemic abnormality of the production line but an isolated incident. The CDC emphasized that the manufacturer must replenish the supply for this flu season if the remaining doses are returned. The CDC explained on March 26 that a clinic in New Taipei found one dose of the GSK vaccine to be cloudy white during a pre-injection check, leading to the suspension of 2,642 doses. The TFDA required the company to investigate and submit a report by April 26. According to the report submitted on April 23, the production process and sample tests for batch AFLUA915AA met all standards. Thus, the company determined the cloudy sediment was an isolated case. Authorities have confirmed no other similar reports nationwide. An expert meeting will be held next Tuesday to further verify the findings. If necessary, more information will be requested from the manufacturer to ensure vaccination safety.
